Twitch is unarguably one of the most popular streaming platforms in the world in the present day. So many people are starting to live stream on twitch and are making a career out of it. Starting from gamers to content creators, everyone is reaping the benefits of the streaming tools that twitch provides.
While at first managing a twitch channel can be easy, as you have a considerably smaller audience. Interacting with your audience is not as tough when you are just starting out on streaming on Twitch.
However, once you have a larger audience, managing all the moderation work while trying to provide entertaining content to your audience can be overwhelmingly stressful. What is the solution for this then?
Why not appoint a moderator or a few moderators? In Twitch these moderators are called mods in short. Assigning someone as a mod can be very much helpful while running a live stream on your Twitch channel.
While assigning someone to be a mod on Twitch is not rocket science, assigning someone to be your moderator is something you should think properly. What we mean is that selecting the right moderator who will be able to handle all the work for you is an important decision and we advise you to select someone wisely.
But that is up to you, we are here to guide you through how you can appoint someone as a mod on Twitch.
Making Someone a Mod on Twitch
Making someone a mod on Twitch is very easy. There are mainly two ways you can assign someone as a mod and both require you to be on a PC or Mac (basically a desktop computer or laptop).
Another condition for being able to assign someone as a mod is that you both (or you all, for that matter) need to be in the same Twitch chatroom. It won’t work if you are not logged in to the same chatroom. They need to be present in your chatroom in both methods and we are going to explain both of these processes in this article. Let’s look at the first one.
Using the /mod Chat Command
You can use a command in the chat to make someone a mod on your twitch stream. This method is very easy and does not require anything other than that person being present in the chatroom. Let’s see how you are exactly going to use this method.
- Step 1: Look at the stream chat, and identify the user you will assign as mod.
- Step 2: Type in the chatbox “/mod username” (excluding the quotation marks), and in the place of the “username” you have to enter the username of the person you are assigning as your mod.
- Step 3: Press Enter.
- Step 4: The message will be sent in the chatroom and that person will automatically be assigned as your moderator.
Using this command is very simple and requires almost no effort. You can assign multiple people as your moderators by just typing /mod + their username and the sending the message. It’s that simple!
However, this isn’t the only way you can make someone a mod. While this is the fastest most efficient way of assigning mods, there is another method by which you can make someone a mod on you Twitch stream. This one takes slightly more time, but also does not require any real effort. Rather reduces your workload as you assign a mod.
From their Twitch Profile
For this method, they still need to be present in the same chatroom as you. It is also pretty simple and we will show you exactly how you can set them as your mods in this method.
- Step 1: Look at the stream chat and again identify the person you want to make your mod.
- Step 2: Click on their username and you will see their profile overview on Twitch.
- Step 3: Under the overview there will be a small button in the shape of a human figure (sort of) with a plus sign. That is the mod button.
- Step 4: Click on the mod button and they will be assigned as your moderator.
How to unassign someone from being a Mod
We just explained how to make someone a mod. But what if you want to remove someone from your list of moderators? Well this is also incredibly easy, and basically sort of the same steps in reverse.
When you click on the mod+ sign button again, it reverses your action and unmods that user. Besides this, you can also use the /unmod username command in the chatbox and still unassign someone from being a mod.
While you are less likely to need to do so, it is important to know how to unmod someone from your Twitch channel if required. Better safe than sorry, wouldn’t you agree?
That will be all for how to make someone a Mod on Twitch. When you grow your Twitch channel to be huge and gain a large audience, believe us, you will need a moderator if not multiple moderators to handle your channel.
There are a lot of tasks that need to be managed by moderators so you can smoothly provide your content. They will also get rid of any negative comment or message sent in the chatroom for you to keep things good.
This is why having a moderator is so important and we hope you take our advice on assigning someone worthy as your mod on your Twitch channel. We hope you are able to grow as a content creator on Twitch so you even feel the need to make someone a mod on your channel. We hope this article was helpful and you found it informative.
